Neurology Resident, Luis Villalonga, Wins Prestigious Prize for Recent Research Presentation
19th September 2024
Congratulations to our resident in neurology, Luis Villalonga, who recently won the European College of Veterinary Neurology’s Boehringer Ingelheim – Best Poster Presentation by a Young Neurologist in Training.
Well done Luis! We are super proud of you.
For those of you interested in his poster here is a short summary:
We have a thorough understanding of how to precisely localize lesions within the central nervous system of dogs. However, the cerebellum remains a particularly enigmatic region where localization is less well-understood. To address this gap, we are conducting a collaborative study with other veterinary centres to elucidate the clinical manifestations associated with cerebellar lesions, based on their specific topographical distribution within the cerebellum. The poster presented at the ECVN-ESVN Symposium is a descriptive study of cerebellar lesions in dogs, and represents the preliminary findings of our ongoing research. Our initial observations suggest that clinical signs, typically not associated with cerebellar disease, may in fact manifest in patients with cerebellar lesions. We hope to provide further insights into this subject over the coming months, once the full study is completed and published.
