Mattia graduated in 2015 from Italy, Perugia. He started working in England at the beginning of 2016 and spent three months as a cardiology intern at the University of Liverpool.
He completed a 13-month rotating internship at Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists to then work in a busy first opinion hospital in Hampshire. During this period he completed a certificate in cardiology (CertAVP VC).
In 2019 he started an ECVIM residency program in small animal cardiology at the Small Animal Teaching Hospital at the University of Liverpool. During his residency, he achieved the status of Associated and then Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). In March 2022, Mattia passed his certifying exam becoming a boarded cardiologist at the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine – Cardiology, and he joined ChesterGates Veterinary Specialists in April 2022. During his residency, he started an MSc program in veterinary professional studies that completed in July 2023. Mattia likes all aspects of veterinary cardiology with a particular interest in congenital diseases and interventional cardiology.
In 2020 Mattia co-founded VetSpoke with Matteo Rossanese, friend and colleague. This started with the aim of making veterinary specialists reachable by all those people who want the best for their pets, closing the gap between general practice and specialists.
In his spare time, Mattia likes to play tennis and saxophone. He also loves photography, in particular portrait and landscape photos.
