FAQ’s and Information Sheets

FAQS

Where can I stay overnight?

Information about hotels can be found here places to stay

We will send you some hotel names and places to eat in your Welcome email or letter after you book your  appointment with our Reception team.

How do I make an appointment?

As we are a referral service, your primary veterinary surgeon will need to complete a referral form to start the referral process. Once we have received this our reception staff will then contact you using the information provided and an appointment can be arranged for a mutually convenient date and time.

Can I make an appointment without a referral from my vet?

Unfortunately no, this has to be arranged by your own primary veterinary surgeon.

Why are appointments only available on weekdays?

Appointments are scheduled in the mornings between Monday and Friday in order to be able to complete all procedures. Although we endeavour to try and do this on the same day, this is not always possible so please allow the better part of the day for your visit to Chester Gates and possibly an overnight stay as your pet may be hospitalised for further treatment and tests.

How long will the appointment be?

Your first consultation appointment with the veterinary specialist will be approximately 45-60 minutes. Any further appointments will be approximately 30 minutes.

When do I pay for treatment?

We ask that you pay for any treatment at the time you collect your pet unless a direct claim has been agreed in which case we would require the insurance excess and administration fee to be paid at your first appointment. Read our insurance guide for further information.

How can I give feedback about service I received or treatment for my pet?

All feedback is welcome, this allows us to continually improve our service. Please click here to complete our online survey

Where will I find your terms of business?

You will find all the information you require about our terms of business here – please contact our reception team if you require any further information.

Who do I contact about a complaint?

Our aim is to provide the highest standard of care for you and your pet and we hope you do not have reason to be dissatisfied with our service. If you do have any concerns please put them in writing to our practice manager at info@chestergates.org.uk or alternatively write in to Practice Manager, Chestergates Referral Specialists, Unit E, Telford Court, Gates Lane, Chester.
