Paralysed Dog Walks Again After Neck Fracture
3rd October 2024
Recently, our team of Specialist Neurologists were able to help Poppy, a Labrador who fractured her neck in a possible traumatic episode.
Poppy was found to be paralysed and unable to breathe properly. She was rushed to Chestergates and stabilised, undergoing MRI and eventually spinal surgery to fix the fracture in her neck. Without the surgery Poppy would have been at risk of dying suddenly as her breathing was compromised. The spinal surgery involved 3D guides to ensure that the screws were placed as accurately as possible.
Poppy was hospitalised for several days, being looked after by our highly trained nursing team. She was discharged home for rehabilitation and TLC. After 7 weeks, Poppy is able to walk again unaided.
