Winner of CVS Clinical Excellence Award
10th November 2018
Ben Walton, BVSc DSAS (Orth) MRCVS, an orthopaedic veterinary surgeon, based at ChesterGates has been awarded the prestigious CVS 2018 Brian Pound Award for Clinical Excellence.
It is awarded to the veterinary practitioner that the judges believe has displayed exceptional levels of commitment to upholding and developing the highest clinical standards to both clients and his or her team over the last 12 months.
Ben received a contribution of £2,000 towards clinical CPD and the Brian Pound Trophy.
Ben is overwhelmed by the accolade. He said: “I am delighted to have won the award and see it as recognition of all the hard work that not only I, but our entire team puts into the operation.”
At ChesterGates, Ben works closely with UK Referrals Director of CVS, Professor John Innes, a former colleague from the University of Liverpool. Together they have raised the bar on the hospital’s orthopaedic service, introducing the latest surgical advances from joint replacements to repairs using the 3D titanium implants, donor bone and stem cell therapy.
He recently appeared on a BBC4 programme ‘The Secret Story of Stuff: Materials of the Modern Age’ which included a case study of his on Archie, a Labrador that has cutting edge cruciate ligament surgery.
